The receptionist drives the flow of clients and pets through the clinic, maximizes productivity of the veterinary medical staff, ensures good communication with staff members and clients and coordinates the care of clients and pets in a welcoming, friendly, professional and efficient manner.


• Greets clients and determines whether they are new or returning clients and or patients of the Humane Society. Ensures counter is covered at all times.
• Check in surgery patients for Vet. Tech to admit.
• Register new clients.
• Answer questions regarding general issues but refers medical questions to the Vet. Tech.
• Operates HSSBV computer system including invoicing and updating client/patient information such as address, phone and driver’s license and patient history.
• Collect payments from clients after service and balance out cash draw daily.
• Discharge pets at the end of the day.
• Alphabetize daily surgery and vaccination paperwork and file.
• Keep front counter and sales display clean, neat and fully stocked.
• Explains the proper use/dosage of medicine prescribed and written by the veterinarian.
• Educates the clients on the benefits of spaying and neutering pets and the licensing differential to clients of unaltered dogs.
• Concentrates in a busy multi-task oriented environment while providing professional/courteous customer service.
• Become familiar with Humane Society’s flyers and information in order to provide clients with adequate information.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent training.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to operate a vehicle under all types of weather road conditions
  • Must be willing to participate in Euthanasia certification training.
