Facilities & Housekeeper
Part-Time

SUMMARY:

Provides direction and help in the efficient operation of the building maintenance and janitorial functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze space utilization and give suggestions for improvement.
  • Assist with set up and clean up special events, including working during the event to keep the space clean and organized.
  • Help coordinate special projects as assigned such as building painting, new floor installation, etc.
  • Responsible for overall cleanliness of facility in non-medical areas, such as public and staff restrooms, Education Center, hallways, break room, etc. Responsible for cleanliness of outside of building, sidewalk areas, parking lot and garage.
  • Safely operate HSSBV provided vehicle pick up supplies, donations and event items as assigned.
  • Set up and tear down classrooms, meeting rooms, or event spaces, including moving tables, chairs, and equipment 
  • Working with housekeeper order supplies as needed.
  • Works alongside Full-time housekeeper and volunteers

  • Help full-time housekeeper with appropriate tasks 

  • Maintain suitable employer/employee relations within the area of responsibility through regular performance reviews of direct reports in a timely manner.

  • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and amenities

  • Maintain proper storage of cleaning equipment and chemicals

  • Follow safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

Employee must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with maintenance and/ or grounds-keeping experience.  Must be computer literate and have the ability to utilize a Windows based system and email.  Must be able to respond and communicate in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.  Must be able to react calmly to stress.  Must demonstrate the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities with minimal supervision. 

Possess the ability to interact appropriately with staff, clients, donors and patients (animals).

Time Commitments / Expectations:

  • 20-25 Hour work week
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings as assigned for fundraising events.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and the ability to operate HSSBV provided vehicle.

Registered Veterinary Technician

SUMMARY:

Provide medical care and assistance to animals at the clinic. This includes animals here for surgery, vaccinations, examinations and euthanasia. Support the organization by working in surgery/recovery areas and performing miscellaneous duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Administer vaccines, medications, etc.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic laboratory tests (i.e. parvovirus, feline leukemia, skin scrapings, ear cytology, etc.)
  • Checks in animals / conducts pre-operation examinations
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including anesthetizing, intubation, surgical scrubbing, etc.
  • Performs euthanasia ensuring written euthanasia policies are adhered to while implementing euthanasia in a timely manner and to the highest procedural level.
  • Clean up surgery and examination rooms at the end of the day.
  • Conducts routine vaccination appointments and counsels owners on basic pet care
  • Performs suture removals and nail trimmings
  • Transports Patients from cage to prep and surgery tables and back to cage while adhering to procedural guidelinesAssists recovery personnel as needed.
  • Assists with surgery when needed, under direct supervisor of a veterinarian.
  • Operates pulse oximeter consistently on each patient during surgery.
  • Observes patients during recovery and assists with their release to owners, as needed.
  • Renders emergency treatment to animals in need of emergency care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid certificate of registration as a Registered Veterinary Technician issued by the California State Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine. Minimum of one year experience working with animals in a veterinary hospital. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, humane animal handling, restraint, and confinement procedures. Familiarity of various animal breeds; familiarity of common animal diseases; safety precautions of working around animals. Ability to read, write, communicate and follow instructions.
